How we help

Anchored in science, performed in new ways

Dr Kai specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition he draws from other models when indicated and offers a flexible and individualised therapy experience.

At an early stage of therapy, we develop a shared understanding of the factors that cause and contribute to your psychological distress and/or your mood/behavioural problems. We then work out an intervention that has the best evidence for recovery according to the latest published research evidence and Department of Health treatment guidelines. We aim to equip you with the tools you need to become your own therapist for current issues and enable you to apply these flexibly in the future.

Where distress is not clinically significant and levels of functioning are high, Dr Kai can offer life coaching based on CBT and ACT principles. We offer appointments in-person, over the telephone and online. We can also offer home visits if needed, e.g. in cases of severe agoraphobia or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). If indicated, we offer treatments outside the therapy room to counter specific phobias. For example we might go into large crowds of people, go driving on the motorway or give you a virtual reality (VR) drone flight experience to help you overcome a fear of heights or flying. We work in German as well as English and treat patients across the life span.
